WHAT:
The New Era Christian Reformed Church Knitting Ministry began in November, 2004 after one of our members heard of a similar ministry in another congregation. Each Wednesday 10 to 14 women meet at Jan Pickard’s house to knit “prayer shawls” to be given away to "shut-ins" or individuals who have recently suffered from illness or injury. The group begins by praying for the needs of the person or persons that the shawls will eventually be delivered to. After prayer, the ladies of the knitting ministry spend the afternoon creating the prayer shawls over coffee, snacks, and uplifting conversation!
Since the group began, over 460 shawls have been personally delivered by someone in the group, or shipped to someone’s loved one out of town!
